    • About Us

Profoundly Blue are a blues band based in Cheltenham, UK. Together, they have years of experience dating from the early 70s. The bands style is grounded in classic blues, R&B and soul, music like BB King, Joe Bonamassa, Robert Cray, SRV.

    • Jeff Mason - Lead Vocals / Rhythm Guitar / Harmonica

    • London born Jeff Mason had a spell in the early 70s with the band "City Road" which enabled him to literally cut-his-teeth on the London rock circuit. The 80s drew him into the bands, "Southern Gipsy" and "Heads Under Stress", with members Tony Dangerfield, Ian Middleton and Les Mears.

    • Steve Powell-Waddell - Lead Guitar

Steve starting playing the guitar when given a half size acoustic guitar when he was 8. He wrote his first song when he was 9 and has never looked back. Throughout his school life he has played in various bands most notable High Frequency and mainly played rock but listened to Eric Clapton quite frequently. His twenties saw an ever-growing love of the blues and influences from Stevie Ray Vaughan, BB.King and other emerged which has influenced his style today.

    • Steve has a love for the Fender Strat but can be seen playing an Epiphone BB.King Lucille on the odd occasion, both through a Fender Blues Deluxe and various pedals.

      Mark Faulkner - Keys

Mark has a wealth of different styles to draw from, including self-penned compositions over the years, to producing theatrical shows. As well as influencing the band with his own style of excellent piano work, his driving hammond sound is responsible for the soul/R&B side of the band.

    Alan Cooper - Bass Guitar

Alan comes from a musical family and was classically trained on piano and violin. After playing rhythm guitar in small outfits he was introduced to bass guitar and the rest as they say is history. The blues and soul music is the bedrock of Alans influences.

    Graham Hawes - Drums

Sussex born and Sussex bred strong in the arm, and soft in the head ? so they say) although Im not sure if thats just me, or drummers in general. I started my musical shenanigans as a self-taught sticksmith on the south coast in the late 70s before moving to London to gig the pub circuit in the early 80s and finally re-located to Gloucestershire during the late 80s to mellow, settle down and change the pace. I am fortunate enough to have played in a variety of bands over the years, (and even a couple of local musicals) spanning the musical spectrum of Pop,Rock,Country,Blues,Soul and Rockabilly. Influences are far reaching and too numerous to mention and not necessarily names you would expect or necessarily associate with the blues.
